Little work at dad's

Got drywall under and around the door brackets for one bay.

We were hoping to put in a more efficient fan motor in the furnace, but it didn't look right. The existing 1/3 HP motor is much smaller than the 3/4 HP Emerson he was given. The book shows a 12% savings if he goes back and gets the same 1/3 HP BPM (brushless permanent magnet motohttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brushless_AC_electric_motorr).

Cutting door to length

A neat trick is to put painters tape down where the cut will be and cut the tape to help prevent splinters. I put another run of take to give the saw something to ride on and not scuff the finish of the door.

And don't forget the doorknob!

Do it myself hinge mortise

Lay it out carefully.
And just like that, we have a nice place for that hinge to be placed:

What a bear!

I went through 3 pieces of sand paper for this little closet, while I hadn't even used one for the previous portion of the project!
My daughter picked up some All-purpose Spackling Paste at Home Depot when I ran out of the Sheetrock brand Joint Compound (Lightweight All Purpose with Dust Control). After reading about it, perhaps she picked up the wrong product for the job.

And then there were none!

It was surprisingly quick that all the babies left the nest.

Quiklevel & drylock

And then there was one

"Where's ma?!"

And then there were two
